Southwestern Middle School Ski and Snowboard Club Information

  1. The first day of ski club will be January 9. We will then have ski club every Friday night in January and February.

  2. The bus will load students and equipment in front of the Middle School cafeteria at 4:15. We will leave promptly at 4:30 each Friday. If your child is not here by 4:30, I will assume he/she is not attending that night.

  3. When we arrive, students will need to unload their equipment, be able to dress themselves, and be responsible for meeting their ski instructor for their lesson 5 minutes early. I will help students get to their lesson the first night. It is then the students’ responsibility to attend their lessons in the following weeks.
  4. Not all packages include ski lessons and, in this case, lessons must be purchased separately. All students are expected to participate in weekly lessons unless explicit permission is given by the ski club advisor.
  5. Students will need to be back on the bus each evening at 9:00. We will be leaving the Peak at 9:15. We should return to the Middle School cafeteria at 10:00, assuming we will have good travel weather.
  6. Students should dress warmly each week – layers are best with appropriate gloves and hats. I will encourage students to come into the lodge occasionally to get warm when weather is extremely cold.
  7. Use of a helmet is MANDATORY. If your child is seen not wearing one, he/she will lose his/her membership for the remainder of the season. Helmet rentals are available.
  8. Students can either pack their own dinner or buy food using a gift card, a credit card, or their prepaid ski pass.
  9. Students need to bring their pass each week. Failure to bring their pass will result in needing to purchase one for the evening.
  10. It is expected that students will always conduct themselves in a safe and respectful manner.
  11. Students are expected to ski safely, knowing their abilities and limitations so as not to endanger themselves or the safety of others in the ski area. Ski personnel and/or advisors may limit the participation of those who might endanger themselves or others and it may result in the loss of club privileges.
  12. I will use ParentSquare to communicate with families about important updates. Please use this if you need to reach out to me as well.

If you have any additional questions, please email me at amccloskey@swcsk12.org.

Sincerely,
Amy McCloskey, Middle School Ski and Snowboard Club Advisor
